RE: License plate seen on an RV

Nice! I saw a MH that had a sticker that said "Roughing it, Smoothly!". I liked it!
Yup, Got that one from Lancaster Pa too. It's now our slogan.
Either way, we're glad we raised the children the way we did. If they learned well they won't need our $$, mahap they'll put it in a college fund for the grand kiddies.:)

RE: Military Veterans who do the RVing thing

Now how did we miss this post?? We use military campgrounds whenever possible.:) At these sites you know what kind of folks you bound to run into. Retired in '03. One more to put through college and away we will go.

RE: rvdirect

We purchased ours from Buffalo RV. Got a great price, that's about it. Referred 3 other families to them and didn't even get a thank you. Didn't want to set up our hitch. Wanted our $$ and for us to leave ASAP. Great price, lousy service. I don't really care, I'm too cheap to let it bother me. Love the 5vr and the Jayco product line...you decide...Good Luck

RE: Jayco Designer thermal pane window ??

The issue you describe is normal. After alot of rain some of the felt gets damp but it usually dries out in a day or 2.

RE: Dual pane window question

We've had one trailer without and now have one with "dual pane" windows. Like changing from a gas TV to a diesel TV. Once you've experienced the difference, you'll never go back. JMHO

RE: B&W turn over ball

If you have the tools and the know how, put in some sweat equity and save yourself the installation fee. Besides, after you buy that 4" hole saw you can put holes in anything you want. It took me 3 hours to put mine in, toughest part was getting base to stay put while I bolted in, get a little help. Good Luck.

RE: best goose neck?

I speak from my experiences, go with the B&W hitch, it easily coverts from gooseneck to 5th wheel hitch, handles up to 18k very easily and most importantly, when not in use it's stored in the garage so I can have an open bed. My 2 cents.
Good Luck

RE: Need help with backing

We had lots of concerns when we upgraded from a TT to our current configuration. What we did was we went to a very large parking lot and we practiced until we were comfortable with getting backed into a spot. 2-way radios and a guide are very important, don't back up without them.

RE: New 5ver: Cardinal, Montana, Bighorn,Jayco Designer

Take your time, research everything, Go to shows, dealers lots, campgrounds..... We looked for over a year and compared everything. Find a floor plan that works for you, make sure your TV is up to specs, figure out what your going to do with the trailer, warranty coverage's, ask questions here......etc heck we even paid the $79 for the RV consumer reports. We purchased through a discount dealer to help keep costs down. WE are very happy with our purchase and that's all that matters to us. Got the picture:)?
Good Luck and Have Fun !!

RE: New 2008 Dodge with the 6.7 Diesel or the 5.7 Hemi

Ok, here's one I can comment on. We've done both...Towed 10K with a 2005 Hemi and now tow 15K with the 6.7 Cummins. I did do a couple short trips towing the 10K trailer the 6.7, pfft...didn't even know it was there. IMHO...get a used diesel in whatever configuration you wish. IT IS A BUYERS MARKET. The cost of fuel will be made up with better mileage when towing, HUGE piece of mind and simply said it's a better TV. My mileage with the 5.7 was 16 empty, 7 towing....mileage with 6.7 18 empty, 12 towing. These mileage numbers were with the above combinations. As it is today, all trucks are gathering dust on dealers lots....go make yourself a good deal. Good Luck & Happy Camping
BTW, pd 29K for my current TV a few months back, deals are out there :)

RE: Any recent TV buying experience?

Going to have to say it a buyers market if you approach it correctly. Research everything about the TV of choice then go find one. We purchased our TV in our signature last Oct for under 30K. We traded 2 unused vehicles we were paying on for the one we wanted, combine with good credit, we came out on the shiny side of a good deal. We only use it for recreation so it's worth the investment. Dealers in this area are selling for 40% off sticker and they're still not moving any trucks. Good Luck.
To answer your question, $46,000 truck for $29,600 paid as of last Oct. when the fuel concerns started. Yes, you will find your truck well below KBB. BTW, the '05 Hemi Ram I traded in is still sitting on the dealers lot:h

RE: CarMax Warranty on 2005 RAM 3500 CTD

We like CarMax and we unfortunately had to use their "Max-Care" plan 3 times for the kid's Saturn. For the money spent on the contract it was a huge saving for the 2 new engines that POJ needed. Be careful, the contract that Max-Care writes has more holes than a sink strainer. For 5 weeks total the kid has been with out wheels while waiting for "authorizations" and "approvals". Read the contract closely, you may find they don't cover anything to do with diesel engines, so what’s the reason for having it? You got a great, time proven truck. Factory coverage has your back for a while. Just my 2 cents.

RE: Exhaust Brake need opinion

I have to admit, we were skeptical at first. Our new TV came with an EB and now as as a great "monkey" once said......... I'm A Believer.
Best option I never knew I needed.
Does make the DW crazy when on secondary mountain roads & my foot never goes near the brake:E

RE: Designer 35RLTS and Jayco Talk...Thanks Frank!!

Hope everyone is doing well. The lack of additions to this link tells me everyone is on the road and enjoying thier campers. The DW and I are burning through diesel like it's free :( but that's life. I've always said, if you get good service tell 10 people..... On one of our many trips this summer we got detoured by a closed bridge and wound up going through a "construction zone". When we rounded a sharp right turn I didn't see a 4' hole in the road and I drove "through" it with the 5vr. The image in the rear view was horrifying as I see it slew sidesways at better than a 60 degree angle, luckily I had enough momentum to pull out of it. After the DW and I calmed down we went out to check the damage. The only thing I could see is scarring on both tires and the Mor Ryde setup was scraped up, no major damage. The inside was a bit shook up as well, but no damage there either Lucky for me. When we finally made it to the campground later that day is when I found what I broke. When unhooking the 5vr I noticed I couldn't get the jaws to open on the hitch. After some raising and banging it came free. Upon inspecting the hitch I discovered this.........

Now I'm in hot water with the DW once again. Luckily we were in place for the next 2 weeks so we had time to get it fixed.
Which brings me to the reason for this post
One call to B&W technical support and the new parts were sent out FEDEX 2day directly to our campsite (during the week of the 4th of July)
The tech explained to me that the supports are made to give in the event something causes the camper to roll over.
Total Cost? $0.00
"Thank You for being a customer, have a good day."
Now that's service!
And yes, now the DW REALLY side seat drives
Looking forward to everyone's adventures...may be time to start a new link.
